Reference librarians at the South Carolina State Library are available to assist you Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except on state holidays.

You can contact us by phone, email, chat, and in-person.

  • Call the Information Desk at (803) 734-8026 for help with library cards, book checkouts, renewals, items on hold, or for research questions.

Get a South Carolina State Library Card

SC residents 18 and over are eligible to apply for a free South Carolina State Library card. Get a library cardA South Carolina State Library Card will give you borrowing capabilities with the State Library and through SCLENDS, and will also give you access to our online resources and e-books.
