There are some fantastic local history rooms with genealogy collections in South Carolina's public libraries across the state. For example, many have published family histories, genealogy books, local histories, and local newspapers on microfilm that one can access by a visit to the library. Also many public libraries provide in-person access to genealogy databases such as Ancestry and Heritage Quest.
University and college archives across South Carolina also have excellent collections useful for genealogy. Many have family papers, manuscripts, published histories, biographies, onsite access to local historical newspaper collections, and more.
