The State Documents Depository System was established by state law (S.C. Code Ann. §§ 60-2-10 to -30) in 1982. This law provides definitions regarding the depository system, and outlines the roles and responsibilities of the State Library, depositories, and state agencies.
The Depository Library Manual is intended to aid libraries in the depository system in the process and servicing of SC state publications.

The monthly New South Carolina State Documents publication by the State Library is a list of electronic state documents published by state agencies that have been placed in the SC State Documents Depository Digital Collection. Records for these items may also be found in our online catalog, SCLENDS. These lists are sent to State Documents Depository libraries across the state. List archives are available online under State Document Lists.
The Shipping List contains the list of physical South Carolina State Documents that are sent to eleven depository libraries across the state and the Library of Congress on a quarterly basis.
